This FAD is Here to Stay

I have a sign sitting on my desk that says: “How you spend every day is how you spend your life”. I wonder if this resonates with you as much as it resonated with me.

It is easy to excuse yourself with a little distraction here and there, or to put things off from one day to another, until you realize that time is slipping through your fingers and new unfavorable habits just got created.

Many of us are driven and ambitious and we have our goals and priorities straight. Yet, sometimes the brain slips out of our control and we slack off, lose our pace and have to play catch up.

This is when living according to this FAD comes in handy. FAD stands for Focus, Action and Discipline. These three virtues are permanently intertwined; and when applied together, they guarantee results.  Talent does not separate people, consistently applying the FAD does.

Do you own 100 percent of your Focus? Just like the rays of the sun focused through a piece of glass can burn down a forest, your own power of focus can set your life on fire. Cultivate it, defend it, stand on guard for it, and don’t let anyone or anything take it away from you. The strength of your ability to Focus is your super power.

Action, especially Inspired Action is the X-factor. We can have the loftiest goals, the highest ambitions and most precise plans, but without Action, nothing happens. If you really want something, you need to prove it to yourself by taking constant inspired action towards your goal. Thinking about it is a clever mental trick to make you feel like you are doing something about it, but you are not. You goals and your mission require you to act, to move, to do something every day. Without Action, it is all a pipe dream.

Finally, Discipline is the necessary glue that keeps Focus and Action engaged at all times. Discipline is the cornerstone of authentic confidence.

Some days you will feel no song in your heart, your motivation will flee, and exhaustion and doubt will enter your heart instead. That’s when you must realize that it is not as much about your capabilities, but it is about what you are willing to endure. It is at times like those that personal Discipline will always save the day. As Vince Lombardi said: Winning is not a sometime thing, you don’t win once in a while, you don’t do things right once in a while, you do them right all the time. Winning is a habit, and so is losing”.

Once you make it a practice to live your life according to the FAD concept, you will become a magnet for like-minded individuals. Surround yourself with ambitious, motivated and successful people. The combined ideas, energy, inspiration and network of contacts will generate an ascending vortex of mutual success.

Carve these words into your brain: I can be anything I choose; I can do anything I put my mind to; I can create anything; the world is mine to conquer, and I will not rest until I do!
